Malcolm Maciver BSc CENG MICE
Malcolm graduated from Glasgow University with a BSc. (Hons) in Civil Engineering and subsequently became a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Initially Malcolm worked for Tarmac Construction Major Projects Division on the Thames Barrier, Drax “B” Power Station and A38 Derby Bypass and gained valuable design experience in the Tarmac Central Engineering Department.
Malcolm returned to Stornoway in 1983 to work for Costain Civil Engineering Ltd on the Royal Air Force NATO Project. He then worked for the Western Isles Council in the transportation section of the Technical Services Department.
Maciver Consultancy Services Ltd was established in October 1997. In April 2005 Malcolm was accepted by Structural Engineers Registration Ltd as an Approved Certifier of Design (Building Structures).
His elder son Scott returned to the island to join the business in 2004.
Scott Maciver BSc CENG MICE
Scott began his engineering career working for Maciver Consultancy Services Ltd during school holidays. He left the island in 2000 to begin his course on Civil Engineering at Glasgow University. Graduating in 2004 Scott returned home to join the company full time. In 2009 he sat his chartered exams and became a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Scott has gained valuable experience in bridge assessments, SUDS design, structural design, topographical surveying and renewable energy projects. He also specialises in timber frame design and completed his own house-building project in 2013.
